Get Paid to Donate Blood

There are so many questions when it comes to donating blood for money, such as: can I actually get paid to donate blood? How much money do you get for it?

But what is the truth here?

Can I get paid for donating blood?

Well, unfortunately in the US, paid blood donations are not a viable option. That’s because according to studies volunteer blood donors provide a safer blood supply for transfusion purposes, so the FDA doesn’t allow paid blood donations to be used for transfusion purposes.

And so, not many blood donation centers actually offer incentives for donating blood. Though, most donation centers will give you at least a T-short or something like that as a reward.

Yes, you can get paid to donate blood plasma.

The reason for that is because plasma can be treated for safety in such ways that is not possible with blood cells. So, that is why the FDA doesn’t have any regulations against paid plasma donations.

Plasma is extracted from your blood using the apheresis method. It’s then treated and processed into drugs by pharmaceutical companies. These drugs are usually used to develop treatments to help people suffering from immune deficiency related diseases fight their disease.

So, in a sense, you can still get paid to donate blood, but it’s actually the plasma in your blood that is used. Non the less, it’s an easy way to get some fast cash while helping to treat other people with immune deficiency related diseases.
